Bristol nursery wins Ofsted approval

A Bristol nursery where children “thoroughly enjoy their time” and “make progress from their starting points” has been praised by Ofsted following an inspection.

The official report notes that leaders at Partou Love Being Little Day Nursery and Pre-school in Stoke Gifford have designed “a well-balanced curriculum, which considers children's interests and what they need to learn at each stage of their development.”

The inspector adds: “All children achieve well from their starting points, particularly in the prime areas of learning.”

Partou Love Being Little in Bristol has achieved ‘expected standard’ across all key evaluation areas

Ofsted recently changed the way early years settings are graded, replacing the previous single-word judgement with a renewed framework that focuses on safeguarding and a broad range of evaluation areas: inclusion; curriculum and teaching; achievement; behaviour, attitudes and establishing routines; children’s welfare and wellbeing; and leadership and governance.

Safeguarding standards at Partou Love Being Little were deemed to be ‘met’ with the nursery achieving ‘expected standard’ in all six key evaluation areas, recognising that the team are delivering consistently high-quality childcare and education.

The Ofsted inspector observes that team members “know their children well and skilfully plan targeted support for those with identified needs, working closely with parents and other professionals.”  The report continues: “They are sensitive and flexible, giving children and parents time to settle into nursery life. They complete ongoing assessments which are regularly reviewed to enable the curriculum to be adapted so that all children are fully included. Staff are adept at identifying emerging needs and changes in circumstances, promptly putting measures in place to support children's development and wellbeing.”

Children at the setting show that “they feel safe and content as they play in a safe and secure environment that meets their individual needs,” the inspector writes.  “Staff deploy themselves well to supervise children to successfully minimise accidents. They carefully assess resources, ensuring these are suitable for the age and stage of development of the child. Children form lovely relationships with caring staff. Staff are responsive and sensitive, giving reassurance and hugs when needed.”

And relationships between Partou Love Being Little team members and families are “positive.”  The report states: “Parents value the information provided in handovers and communication they have with their key person and the management team. Staff are very supportive in times of change and adapt their practice in the best interests of the family.”

Conveniently located on Station Road, Partou Love Being Little provides high-quality childcare and early years education for families in Stoke Gifford, Filton and surrounding areas.

Alongside its impressive indoor playrooms, the nursery offers a spacious outdoor area, offering nature-based learning with lots of opportunities for sensory exploration.

As a means of building confidence through a blend of new and familiar experiences, the children often visit places within their community, such as the library, local parks, shops, the train station and duck pond.

Chanelle Goodland, Partou Love Being Little Nursery Manager, said: “It is a positive report which reflects the dedication and professionalism of the team.

“We are proud that Ofsted have recognised our ambition for the children and all we do to support our families."

Kirsty Jackson, Partou Co-Managing Director, said: "The happy, upbeat and safe environment fostered by Chanelle and the team enables children to make strong progress in their learning and development."
